About the Role
Academics are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to support a learner in a home education setting in Canterbury. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a confident understanding of assistive technology to support learning, communication, and engagement.
You will work closely with the learner, family, and external professionals to deliver a personalised, academically informed programme tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities

Support learning activities based on academic frameworks and personalised education plans

Use and adapt assistive technology (e.g. AAC devices, switches, sensory software, tablets) to enhance communication and learning

Implement strategies informed by PMLD academic research and best practice

Support sensory, cognitive, and communication development

Liaise with parents, tutors, and therapists as required
Essential Requirements
-
Proven experience supporting learners with PMLD

Strong understanding of academic approaches to PMLD education

Practical experience using assistive and adaptive technology

A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach

Ability to work independently in a home-based setting

Relevant qualification or training in education, SEN, or support work (or equivalent experience)
